You need to select a city first
With rugged mountains and turquoise blue waters, the coastline of the Baja Peninsula looks like a postcard from paradise, and there’s several tourist destinations along the coast where you’ll find the quiet charms of a small town with all the luxurious amenities that Mexican destinations have become known for. One of these towns is Loreto, which is located on the east side of the peninsula along the Sea of Cortez. The beaches in Loreto Mexico are quiet and serene, and the water is home to an abundance of marine life. One of the best spots for water sports or a day of relaxation is Ensenada Blanca, which is conveniently located in front of Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto. Whether you’ve buried your toes in the sands of Ensenada Blanca or not, these are a few of the facts you might not know that make it such a beloved spot.
Ensenada Blanca and its community are located at the southern end of the Loreto Bay National Park. As Loreto began to grow as an international tourist destination, the community worked together to establish this nationally protected marine zone in 1996. The Loreto Bay National Park covers nearly 800 square miles of the Sea of Cortez and the Islands of Loreto, and the regulations keep the waters safe and clean.
For years, Ensenada Blanca has been a peaceful fishing village known for its beautiful beach and striking rock formations. While there’s now a luxury resort here, you’ll still see fishermen heading out to sea from the local boat ramp at the edge of the beach or casting lines out into the water. Their catches create mouthwatering dishes, like fish tacos, coconut shrimp, and spicy grilled filets.
Even though you’ll feel like you’re a million miles from the rest of the world, you don’t have to travel far to get here. With the international airport in Loreto, travelers can fly directly here, and after a short drive down the main road, they can run across the sands of Ensenada Blanca.
The beach has calm waters that make you want to splash and swim all day. Even younger swimmers can safely enjoy swimming at Ensenada Blanca. Its shallow waters allow them to walk and splash while parents watch from the shore, making it one of the best beaches in Loreto Mexico for a family vacation.
Without rough waves, you can easily stay upright while paddleboarding, and kayaking here becomes a meditative activity. Because it’s a nationally protected marine zone, there’s an abundance of marine life to discover while snorkeling and scuba diving.
Throughout the year, you can spot dolphins and sea lions splashing through the waters, and when you sail out to the Islands of Loreto, you’ll get to see them up close. During the winter months, humpback and blue whales migrate to the safe waters of the Sea of Cortez, and while you can spot them from shore, whale watching tours are some of the most incredible experiences you can have.
Guests at Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto can take advantage of the resort’s exclusive amenities at Ensenada Blanca. The resort provides guests with non-motorized sports equipment, like paddleboards, kayaks, and snorkeling gear for exploring the water. When they’re not splashing in the waves, guests can relax in shaded sunbeds and lounge chairs while sipping a drink from the beach bar.
As you play and relax on the beach, you’ll see the striking islands rise majestically from the sea creating a breathtaking view. On the left, Danzante Island appears much closer, and on the right, you’ll see Carmen Island.
Of all the beaches in Loreto Mexico, Ensenada Blanca is where you can easily spend every day of your vacation. Whether you head out for a morning walk, take out a paddleboard, or simply rest in the shade while enjoying a good book, you’ll see why this stretch of paradise is such a magical destination.
